The man at the helm of Irish label Hsüan Records returns with a two track EP featuring the vocal talents of Toronto (CA) based singer Faiza. The “Jade Temple” EP from Graeme S is a continued exploration into the symbiotic relationship between Chicago’s footwork scene and Jungle music, while Faiza’s vocals weave between breaks and 808’s, creating a soundscape as refreshing as it is familiar.
Graeme S runs the quiet success story that is Hsüan Records, producing woozy and intricate Chicago Footwork/Juke tracks, spliced with Drum & Bass.
When he’s not making beats, he’s releasing remixes and tracks from Footwork legends like DJ Earl of Chicago’s Teklife coalition, and bass music all-rounders such as Keysound’s Sully, Walton (Hyperdub), Eomac (UTTU) and Hackman (20/20 Vision).
As a producer, his music has featured on BBC Radio 1, BBC Radio 6, Solid Steel Radio Show, Boiler Room and Rinse FM. His productions have also garnered the support of heavyweights like Addison Groove, Stray, Jon 1st and many more.
Faiza is a Toronto-based independent R&B soul singer, with the goal of living in her truth and inspiring others to do the very same. After releasing her self-titled debut EP in 2014 to critical acclaim, Faiza has gone on to play a number of high profile shows, includng Manifesto Festival of Community & Culture (2014), The Known Unknown (2014) and Northern Lights (2015).
